STURGIS, S.D. - Federal agencies investigating the fire that destroyed the Full Throttle Saloon east of Sturgis say they have determined the blaze to be accidental in nature.

In a press release Monday afternoon, Special Agent in Charge, James Modzelewski says investigators can say conclusively that the fire originated in the main part of the bar and has been determined to be accidental in nature.

Modzelewski says the ATF team has completed their assignments at the fire scene. The ATF team departed Sturgis today (Monday).

Over the past five days, investigators have taken countless photographs, inspected and examined artifacts recovered from the scene and conducted numerous interviews. The information developed was reviewed and analyzed to assist in determining the cause of the fire.

The early morning fire September 8th destroyed the main structure of the Full Throttle Saloon. Fire fighters were forced to truck water onto the site because there were no fire hydrants or water source to fight the blaze.

Damage to the Full Throttle is estimated at $10-million.

The Meade County Sheriff's Office and Sturgis Police Department aided in the investigation.
