Default Having a Smithfield Foods ham for Christmas?

If so you probably don't want to read this. It's disgusting.
Undercover investigation of Smithfield Foods reveals factory farm horrors

This week the Humane Society released the results of its undercover investigation of a Virginia pig farm that's owned by Smithfield Foods, the largest pork producer in the world. A Humane Society investigator spent a month inside the Waverly, Va., facility, armed with a hidden camera. Among the more disturbing findings was this:
Female breeding pigs were crammed inside "gestation crates[/COLOR]" so small the animals could barely move for virtually their entire lives. The animals engaged in stereotypical behaviors such as biting the bars of crates, indicating poor well-being in the extreme confinement conditions. Some had bitten their bars so incessantly that blood from their mouths coated the fronts of their crates. The breeding pigs also suffered injuries from sharp crate protrusions and open pressure sores that developed from their unyielding confinement.

Thank you, I'm a huge animal rights activist and this has me so enraged. I get that animals need to be used for food( well in actuality they don't, we could all live as vegetarians, but that's another debate) but there is NO excuse for treating them this way.
I wonder if Wal-mart will quit selling Smithfield. I doubt it. They don't give a shit about human or animal rights.

And veal!! My Goddess what they do to those poor little calves. We got a law passed here in AZ a few years back banning the crating of cows for veal.

Quite honestly, I never paid attention to the brand of ham that I've bought in the past. But, after reading that (I couldn't bring myself to watch the video) I'll be more careful and won't be buying Smithfield. Just reading about how they are treated is horrible.
