If they played in the SEC they would lose 3 or 4 games a year, at least. It's a joke.

If there was a 8 or 16 team tournament, how would they decide who plays??? Conference champs wouldn't even constitute half the teams, unless you put smaller conferences in there too (Sun Belt, MVC, etc.), but I wouldn't want to see a smaller conference team playing the likes of LSU in the first round of a national tournament.

You could then think about the top 16 teams in the rankings, but then which rankings would you use?

Even though I am in favor of a tournament, there's another thing to think about. Some college teams have added a 13th and even 14th game to their season (depending on whether they play in a conference championship game). People were complaining that that would be too many games for college athletes. With a 16-team tournament, that would add 4 more games for teams who go all the way, which would make their season 17 or 18 games. I have to keep reminding myself that they're college students and not professional athletes.

Every other sport in college athletics has a tournament, even smaller football divisions. The BCS doesn't give a crap about playing more games no matter what they say. They just have a cabal that's been formed for power and money.

I know they don't care about anything but money, but the schools can put an end to it if they really want to. If they did do a tournament for, let's say, the top 16 teams, what would you do about the rest of the NCAA? In basketball, they have March Madness tournament and then the NIT. Maybe something like that for football. I still think adding a tournament would make too many games. They would have to do something. I just don't know what. What I do know is that as long as the BCS "runs the show," it's just going to be a bunch of BS.

Just need a top 4 or top 8 would be better. New Year's Day first round........ then the semis and finals the next two weeks. Would be huge. They could move back signing day until the end of February and nothing would change.

Yeah, the top 4 or 8 would only add 2-3 extra games, and there could still be a "secondary tournament" or keep some (non BCS) lesser bowl games for the little man.

Just keep the rest of the bowls so the non-elite teams aren't missing a thing. Then use the major bowls for an 8 team playoff. Only two teams would have to play two extra games, while two other teams would play one extra game. It would be huge amounts of money and excitement and it wouldn't hurt a thing.

I like that idea. Let's petition the NCAA!
