I got a powerpoint email today with some pictures that I had never seen before. I wish I could share it here, but I can't attach a powerpoint file. It really brought back a lot of memories from that day.

I have read a lot about 9/11, especially United 93 because it crashed close to my hometown, and I honestly don't think they shot it down. In fact, by all accounts they weren't close enough to do so. The first jets that were scrambled were accidently sent out over the ocean and some of the other jets weren't even armed because they were in the middle of training.

There's a fabulous book on the subject called "Touching History" that tells the whole story about what was happening in the skies for the few days that it was going on. I also highly recommend "102 Minutes" if you want to know the story about what happened inside the twin towers. It's a tough read because it goes into detail about the people trapped in the buildings, but in my opinion they deserve to have their stories read. If you want to read more of a heartwarming book on the subject, there is a book called "The Day the World Came to Town". It's one of my favorite books ever. It tells the story of how a little town in Newfoundland helped thousands of stranded passengers who were diverted to them when the skies were closed down. The amazing kindness of these people will make you cry with happiness. Just thinking of it makes me tear up at the thought of how great these people were.

Lastly, I have been to the United 93 crash site numerous times and it's always very touching. If you are ever in the area, do yourself a favor and go. Right now it's mostly a makeshift memorial, but the plans for what they are going to turn it into it is nothing less than amazing. Check out the link, then click on the blue titles to see each facet of the future memorial.
