58-year-old man climbs phone tower because woman refused his call!!

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Police have charged a man with disorderly conduct after they say he climbed a cell phone tower because a woman refused to answer his calls.

Authorities said they found 58-year-old Dean Dumas Hartman halfway up a 193-foot cell phone tower in northeast Jefferson County. Jefferson County Chief Deputy Randy Christian tells the Birmingham News in a Saturday story that fire workers had to stop traffic while one of the deputies called Hartman on his cell phone and talked him down Thursday night.

Officials say Hartman threatened to jump but was not injured. He was also charged with criminal trespassing and was released on $2,000 bond Friday. Christian said perhaps the man thought he would get a better signal on the tower and the woman would answer.
