Wow, after what seems to be...years of watching their marriage deteriorate rapidly, it has completely shattered over the past couple of days. My exact words on the phone to my Dad today were, "What's the price of misery?"

My Dad has decided to separate from my Mother and proceed with a divorce.

Zach, I don't condone divorce, but I also have not been married. I have said it here before that my parents are on rocky grounds now, as well. I do think this may bring a little bit more peace, in an odd way, to the family without them down each other's throats. At the end of the day, it isn't a decision influenced by you and nor should you think it is.

As a married mother, let me just say this. Love of my husband is not unconditional. Love of my children is.

Sometimes it's better if people go their separate ways, for everyone. Would you rather have constantly unhappy parents walking on eggshells, or two parents that feel as they can now be free to pursue what could possible make them happy? It's hard, I know. I am a child of divorced parents. But now that I am older and look back, I wouldn't wish it to be any other way. Hang in there.

I don't feel responsible at all. My mother has become a horrible, conniving, bitch. I love her dearly, but I am not gonna stand beside her.

And no, not all mother's loves are unconditional. I'll never forget receiving a letter from my Mother saying she lost love for me. She's also canceled my cell phone and health insurance.
