Little Mama- I kinda dropped a bug in my wife's ear that I would like a kindle too! I know a few people who have them, and they say it's a ton better than 1) spending the time of going to the library or bookstore 2) you also save money by not paying shipping if you buy it online 3) When you buy a book, you download it instamatically. I'm pretty sold on them, which is why I'm hoping Santa will depart from the usual and customary lump of coal (or petrified horse poop, I'm not really sure) and have his little elves put one together for me!!!

LOL!

I saw one for $79; I guess it's the updated version. The Kindle Fire is too much. I just want her to read without going through a lot of stuff to do it!

Are there other brands that I can look for? All my mom will use it for is reading, so nothing fancy will do.
it is not discounted but I type in the box name of books or authors & each link you make to amazon gets YY credit!! I buy all my books that way!! I also bought a kindle for my mom but have it set up thru my account so that any books bought get charged to the same card but we can both keep them!! If you want to know more I will be happy to share how I did it via pm!!

I also had my sister download the kindle app for her ipad!! i got the family covered!!

Sweet! I'll probably get the Kindle this weekend for her. I don't know what else to get the woman.

We have four Kindles, so I thought I'd offer a little bit of advice. First of all, if you can get Kindle with ads to save some money, do it. The only place you see the ads are on the front page when the Kindle is shut off. Secondly, you'll want a case for it, but I can say from experience, not to get a case that has a tab with a snap that folds over the front of the Kindle. The screen is really fragile and we had one screen break from the magnetic snap closing too hard. Amazon has been GREAT about replacing them when they break. As long as it's within the warranty, which I think is a year, you just call them and let them know it broke and the next morning you'll have a brand new Kindle on your doorstep. Also, keep the wi-fi turned off when you're not using it and you'll save a ton of battery life.

I can see why Kristin has to do it because she has 47 kids but everybody else needs to buy actual books. Kindles are just so wrong!!

We are slowly replacing all of our books with the Kindle version. Books were taking over our house and I couldn't stand it anymore. The kids also have word games on their Kindles so they use them a lot.
