Default VA Governor McDonnell Approves ultrasound measure

The dear governor of the state of VA has decided, he alone wants to have women have an ultrasound before and abortion.
I am appalled to think in 2012 that anyone would be so backwards. I do not believe in abortion, but I also don't think the government has a right to say what a woman can and cannot do with their body.
My questions to the Governor is this,
1. Who is going to pay for these ultrasounds?
2. Why does the state thinks it has a right to tell someone what they have to do?
3. What's the purpose?
4. Do you hate woman?
I mean Roe vs Wade was ruled in the 1970's if my memory serves me correct. You Governor are trying to send the woman back 40 years.
With all this country has going on and the state with unemployment, why isn't that forefront on your agenda instead of attacking the woman of VA? I am baffled by your decision but come next election you have lost this woman's vote. Just as the former governor Kaine has a fight on his hands with me for stopping me from having a cigarette after a meal. While he went out and got drunk after the vote....

That doesn't bother me at all. If a woman has decided for sure that she wants an abortion, then an ultrasound isn't going to change her mind. But, if a woman isn't completely sure that she's making the right decision about an abortion, then the ultrasound could convince her to have the baby and either keep it or put it up for adoption. Personally, I don't believe in abortion....for myself. It's not my place to decide what's best for another woman. However, if a harmless procedure, such as an ultrasound, could save a baby's life by changing the woman's mind, then what can it possibly hurt?

You've been in Oklahoma too long..lol..They were talking about this on Howard Stern last week. Personally, I think it's scary. I could never have an abortion myself (theoretically) but it has to be a horrible decision to make. I don't want women being guilted in to having babies that they will soon regret having. All we need is more unloved people in this world. Then there is the issue of the government forcing people to have an unnecessary procedure which is a slippery slope.

I just think that if an ultrasound can change a woman's mind about having an abortion, then she wasn't really ready to have one in the first place. I can't help but think about all of the people out there who want a baby and can't give birth to one. If I were in that situation, it would break my heart to know that a baby's life has ended because the mother made the decision to have an abortion. Of course, I'm not referring to special circumstances, such as the mother's life is in danger, there would be no quality of life for the baby due to health issues, etc.

First of all, no man or woman, including my husband, has the right to tell me what to do with my own body unless he/she is my doctor and is giving me medical advice. Secondly, why does this idiot think he is? I don't believe in abortions for myself or for my daughter. (She doesn't either, btw). However there's no reason on earth for anyone to make it a law that a woman has to have an ultrasound before an abortion. Don't force your damn beliefs on my life and my body. This is ridiculous. Whether I believe in abortions or not, I'm not going to sit around and let someone else decide for me.

You know this is as archaic as the fact that I had to have my husband sign for me to have my tubes tied. That really pissed me off too. Yet I didn't have to sign for him if he wanted a vasectomy. Fuck that shit.

That's a bullshit law and it's an attempt at imposing morals upon another human being.

If someone wants to have an abortion, it is their right. They're going to feel guilty enough without having to see an ultrasound.

This is why I hate people that are "moral crusaders." Shove your judgment up your ass and back the fuck outta my choices.

To be frank, politics and personal beliefs aside, why are women getting abortions without an ultrasound to begin with?

It baffles my mind how so many women allow such a procedure be done to them BLINDLY - without any imaging to assess the internal situation before going through with the procedure.

It baffles my mind more that it's not standard of care.
