Yakcrazy Broadway at the Yak

I could not find a good place for a thread like this, so this general area should be good enough. I LOVE Broadway and good stage productions and I thought it'd be fun to chat about them. I subscribed to my first season locally this past season and have been able to see The Book of Mormon, Dirty Dancing, Rent with both Cinderella and Motown coming in the next 2 months. We just had our 2017-2018 season announced and it'll feature THE LION KING (!!!! which I've seen once before), Kinky Boots, The Sound of Music and the Wizard of Oz. I'm excited about this one!

Few favorites. LOVE Wicked. I think I've seen that about 5 or 6 times. NEED to see Hamilton. Anyways, just thought I'd start it off ...Anyone else Broadway freaks?

I still try to see the biggies when I go to NYC, and I saw a bunch of musicals and plays when I lived there. My first one was Rent and I was wowed. I also loved Spring Awakening with the original cast (Lea Michele, Jonathan Groff, John Gallagher, Jr., and Skyler Astin). I saw Wicked and Avenue Q on Broadway. I saw Martin Short's show. I saw Les Miserables. I saw Hamilton last year. I saw a bunch of plays, too. Kevin Kline and Jennifer Garner in Cyrano. I saw The Odd Couple with Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane. I saw some play, I forget the name, that had Julia Roberts, Bradley Cooper, and Paul Rudd. That was before Cooper got really big. I did see him years later in Elephant Man. It was mostly women in the audience that were trying to woo him. There were others, too, but I can't remember them off the stop of my head.

Personally, I find it fascinating, because I can not do that stuff. The first one I saw on Broadway was Rent in it's original run, and I couldn't believe to see in person such talented people doing their thing so well under pressure. They run around and sing, and they're never out of breath, and they always hit their marks. It just amazes me.

I really do like being transported to a particular world. I would have loved to see Rent and Spring Awakening with the original casts. I did love the recent 20th Anniversary touring company that came through this season.

I also saw Wicked on Broadway. Took my breath away. Saw Phantom once and The Lion King in Chicago.

How was Hamilton? I am OBSESSED with the soundtrack and need to see this!

I'm not into rap music, but I'm a history buff and the talent on display was amazing. Plus, just going to Hamilton is an event in itself.
