What a wonderful world it will be! I have come to have a much deeper appreciation of the simple things in life as well as my family and friends.

I am confused and upset at the behavior of "friends" and I'm looking for somebody to bite. If anyone knows some calming words about the state of the world, please send them my way.

SB i'm relying on my faith and believe that God is in control. No matter how disturbing the state of the world. My brother was alone when he passed away because of the pandemic. My niece asked me if we should discontinue the ventilator as all hope was gone according to the doctors. This was the most difficult decision of my life. I miss him every day. He was my friend. He called me every night and i still wait for the phone to ring. My other brother and his family have been very sick. My 11 year old grandson told my daughter he 'just wanted to be normal again.' My son-in-law is on the front line. They live in Miami and i can't be with them. One of my nieces is a nurse in the Neo natal unit at UAB. She never missed a day until she became very ill with covid for several weeks. She is back working on the same unit with newborns who are sick. We can pray my friend.

I am having my first grandchild within a month. My hope is that things go well for my daughter and her husband because this was a long time coming. It's been life and death. 4 weeks before Thanksgiving we found out my husbands only brother had pancreatic cancer, he passed right before thanksgiving. My husband is devastated they were so so close. Then another good friend of his passed thanksgiving weekend from Covid. My husband found solace in talking on the phone to his best friend since he was 5 everyday. They made tons of plans for when life was normal again. A week after Thanksgiving he called to tell us he had Covid. We prayed and prayed but he passed away on 12/30/20. These men were only 65 and 68. My heart is broken for our best friend who was the best man at our wedding and a true light in our lives. It's been too much loss. I want to be able to honor our brother and best friends by having a memorial for them this year. I miss my family and all our wonderful gatherings.

Tina i am so very sorry for your many losses. Not being able to say good bye is truly devastating. I also offer congratulations to you and yours for the coming grandchild. Grandchildren are a special gift and treasure. Babies bring such happiness and joy! You are about to experience a very special bond and relationship. My grandson's paternal grandfather passed away while CJ was literally being born. I've often told him the story of as he was coming down from heaven his grandfather passed him on his way up and gave him a hug. He loves to hear this. I am very excited for you!

Thank you Bondy, I love what you told CJ. My daughter was so very sad that her coming son won't meet his great uncle and I told her they've already met.
